Founders: Beth Martin & Chelsea Cummings

A Lifelong Friendship Fueled by Horses
Beth Martin and Chelsea Cummings have been best friends since kindergarten – brought together by crayons and snack time and bonded forever by their love of horses.
They started riding lessons and trail rides together at just five years old and quickly earned their reputation as the “crazy horse girls.” Over the years, they shared countless rides, barn chores, and horse show memories — including a special connection through their beloved Morgans, who were full brother and sister. NEQuinox was named in honor of those two horses who helped shape their journey.
Now, decades later, they’re still side-by-side — supporting each other, cheering on each other’s horses, and building the Northeast Kingdom Equine Expo together. Their friendship and shared passion are at the heart of everything they do.

Beth Martin
Beth brings more than 30 years of hands-on horse experience to the Northeast Kingdom equestrian community. Her primary focus is hunt seat, with a well-rounded background that includes dressage and western pleasure. She has competed locally and at the regional intercollegiate level, giving her a broad perspective on both competitive riding and horsemanship.
Today, Beth continues to stay active in the saddle with her OTTB, Flynn, while also offering massage work for horses throughout the community. Her approach to horses blends discipline, education, and a deep respect for the partnership between horse and rider. She co-founded the NEK Equine Expo to create meaningful learning opportunities for equestrians of all disciplines. She is the force behind scheduling and clinician/vendor relationships!

Chelsea Cummings
Chelsea has been in the saddle since the age of five, building a strong foundation in western riding with additional experience in English disciplines. She successfully showed her Paint mare, Dixie, on the Vermont circuit in Western Pleasure and Halter, gaining a deep appreciation for the dedication behind every show season.
These days, Chelsea balances peaceful trail rides with cheering on her daughter at local shows and managing a busy barn filled with horses and a crew of other animals. Her lifelong involvement in horses — from competition to everyday care — shapes her practical, community-focused perspective. She co-founded the NEK Equine Expo as a way to bring education and connection to the local equestrian world. She is the behind-the-scenes marketer who manages the Expo's Facebook page!
